UK 2019 Worlds Transport Update

Here is the latest from David Lloyd about containers to the 2019 Worlds in Thailand:
Dear Dart Sailor

Thank you for bearing with me on this but it has been a very complex process dealing with the shippers in Thailand .

The container fee from the UK is as follows Assuming we get 15 per container the fee should be approx £425 per boat. If we get more the figure will drop. If we get less it could rise. At 13 per container it would be approx £485 per boat.

We do have one outstanding issue with the Thai authorities which are the Import/Export VAT. The Club in Pattaya has asked for an exemption but it is still not clear if this will happen. If it does not we will need to apply for a temporary Carnet from the Chamber of Commerce in the UK which guarantees safe Import/Export but comes at an additional cost of up to £50 per boat. Limited spares/sailing kit can be included in the container but large items/bikes etc will not be allowed.

Please pay a £250 deposit to David Lloyd (WH Insurance office account) to Request us to allocate space in the container. (This account is being used as no bank charges will be incurred) THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS AS YOUR PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. The balance will be due later in the year when final numbers are known.

Account details WH Insurance Office account Sort code 089299 Acc no 69278815 PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SURNAME and SAIL NUMBER are listed on the bank transfer.

When 13 plus have been paid then you will be informed that your space is confirmed.(None will be confirmed until the container is viable) Please be aware that it may not be in the closest container to you (We will of course try to fit everyone in their nearest one but not all will get their first choice.

From initial research it looks as though we will easily fill 2 containers. In the unlikely event that there are not enough boats all money would be refunded.

UKIDA are not subsidising the container in any way and will not be responsible for exact pricing or transport details. All costs will be split equally between all in the UK containers. We will continue to work to bring the cost down with sponsorship.

The Exact final fee will be divided by the total number of boats in both containers and will be advised when known.

Loading will be Mid December and return Early April Container choice is Liverpool or Southampton but first choice cannot be guaranteed
